Roasted dry prawns

Prawns are good source of protein, yet are very low in fat and calories, making them a very healthy choice of food. Prawns do contain a lot of omega-3 fatty acids, but these fatty acids are good for you and help prevent against heart disease, circulatory diseases and many other types of illnesses. Prawns also contains high levels of vitamin B12, zinc, iodine, phosphorous, potassium, selenium and iron and have smaller quantities of calcium, magnesium and sodium. Dried prawns are also as good as fresh ones, but differ in their taste. You can use this recipe for any kind of dried fish.
                                     
INGREDIENTS

Prawns - 2 cups
Onion - 1 medium sized, chopped
Tomato - 1 medium sized, chopped
Garlic - 2 cloves, crushed
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Fish masala - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Dried red chilli - 1 big
Oil - 2 Tbsp

   METHOD
          Clean the prawns. In a frying pan heat oil.When it is hot add mustard seeds & dried red chilli. Now saute the onion till it starts browning. Add the crushed garlic & tomato. When the tomato turns mushy add the spices and allow it to mix well. Now add the cleaned prawns and add salt (keep in mind that the prawns already have little salt). Now mix it till all the prawns get coated with the masala.Cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes, with ocassional stirring.

Fish masala is nothing but the dry spice mix you get from the grocery store. you will get it from any super market or grocery store. look for it in the masala or spices section. even if you don't find it there its easy to prepare...just dry roast some coriander seeds, dry red chilly, cumin seeds, fenugreek, black pepper & grind it o a powder. add a pinch of asafoetida.
